Seems a bit silly.
It's very clear to me, not silly.
A reminder .... V 5 Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.
Why didn't the lord stop this in Genesis and Exodus?
@ John - A lot of times we focus on 'why' or 'how'. God said "I AM" so he knows including the timing of doing things. Some of the laws in the OT change with Jesus in the NT.
