An interesting chapter. The same story is told in 1 Chronicles 21, but while in 2 Samuel it's God who incites David to take the census, in 1 Chronicles it's Satan.
Interesting as that conundrum may be, I decided not accentuate it here as I don't think it's the real emphasis of either chapter.
The Lord proved Himself faithful in answering David's prayer....V 25 David built an altar to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the Lord answered his prayer on behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
