I think it's worth mentioning that David doesn't really do much, and that she went to live in Absalom's house "a desolate woman."
Oh wait, it's 140 characters or less, my bad.
Maybe because of David's own guilt with Bathsheba he did not discipline his own son. Hence 2 years later Absalom took revenge on Amnon for raping his sister.
