Such a sharp challenge to those of us in church leadership!

David

This is 500+ years after King David and is supposed to be in about 571 B.C. What gives?

Good question. I think he's using 'David' to mean 'a king like David', referring to the promise that the Messiah would come from David's line.

You can certainly hear an echo of this passage when Jesus calls himself 'the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep' in John 10:11.

After reading chapters and chapters of the righteous judgement of the wicked we read of the loving kindness and faithfulness of our God..... V11 I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.

I summarised all 1,189 chapters of the Bible on Twitter - one tweet per chapter, one chapter per day for over three years.
